July 24, 2011 - I am celebrating one year of serving the Lord as a Minister of the Word. Through parish involvement, I learned so many things about my Faith, and I have grown so much closer to God. In the course of one year, I discovered a myriad of reasons to love Him. I also met real-life people whose love for God was so intense that I was simply J-E-A-L-O-U-S. Like them, I wanted to be able to love Him more – to sing about Him, blog about Him, or simply let other people experience Him. But I am fazed… a fledgling servant who’s still in the getting-to-know-Him stage. Still, I find encouragement in Matthew 5:14-15.
And so, I start this blog called GoLF Life… short for Gospel Lessons for Family Life. Here, I will share my ponderings for moms (and dads as well). Yes, it’s a parenting blog. How brazen of me! I am not the perfect mom, nor do I have a perfect family. But, I pray that my thoughts will lead you to also reflect on God’s words, and then, help you find answers for your own family life.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.“Now, here’s the light that’s flickering inside me: Whenever I reflect on the Sunday readings, there is always an aspect of God being a father. I realize that the Lord’s unconditional love is the perfect model for parents to follow. I always get a nudge from His examples (a shove, if you will) whenever I fall short in patience and compassion for my kids. I always pick up something for my family life. His words always points me towards raising better kids; towards being a better person…a better mom.
